Working on a Query

November 22, 2009

Apparently, the ability to write an awesome query letter is just as important as the ability to write an awesome novel!  As I get closer to finishing the edit process of my novel young adult fantasy novel, “The Glendale Witch”, I’ve been thinking more and more about putting together THE perfect query letter.  In addition to giving potential agents information such as genre, word count and my own writing credentials, I need to “hook” his/her interest with a brilliant, tantalizing description of the plot.

So, let me know what you think…if you were/are in the 16 – 25 year old mostly female demographic, would you want to read this novel?

“CELESTE NEEDFYRE finds her average Southern California lifestyle turned upside down with the discovery of an amazing birthright:  She is the last of an ancient line of witches.  This revelation sets in motion a chain of events that threatens her friends, her family and everything she holds dear.  Joined by an eccentric fortuneteller, the garage band from downstairs and a misplaced Satyr, CELESTE embarks on a journey through strange worlds to save her own life, the lives of those she loves best and the fate of our planet.

Fiction’s new shining couple consists of CELESTIAL STAR NEEDFYRE, the Glendale Witch, and the young rocker who faces unimaginable danger to save the girl he loves.”
